Össur announces winner of #MYWINNINGMOMENT, announces 2nd contest celebrating amputee mobility
Federica Maspero Wins All-Expenses-Paid Trip to Company Headquarters in Iceland
Second Contest Expands to Include Children, Chance to Win Trip to SDTC
Össur is announcing that Federica Maspero, a bilateral amputee from Como, Italy, is the winner of the company’s first-ever #MyWinningMoment online contest celebrating amputees’ mobility. Maspero has won a four-day, three-night trip for two people to breathtaking Reykjavik, Iceland, home of Össur’s headquarters, for her submission depicting her and her husband in full wedding regalia on a running track.
Maspero’s photo was chosen by an external jury of prosthetics community leaders from 10 Finalists who had been featured on Össur’s Facebook page. The judges noted that the photo truly captured a winning moment for Maspero, who has overcome countless challenges after the life-changing loss of her legs and fingers due to meningitis.
"We enjoyed all of the submissions and were especially inspired by Federica’s photo, which exuded happiness and success on many levels,” said Jon Sigurdsson, Össur’s President and CEO. “While one’s wedding day is certainly one of the best moments in anyone’s life, Federica made hers all the more memorable by combining it with her love of sports. The resulting image is a joyous illustration of enjoying life without limitations.”
Össur Announces Second Contest with SDTC Grand Prize
Sigurdsson also announced that, due to the overwhelmingly positive response to the #MyWinningMoment campaign, Össur is launching a second contest, effective immediately. As before, people with lower limb loss are invited to share their stories via photo or video on the www.mywinningmoment.com. website. In addition, eligibility has been expanded to include entries from children, as long as they are submitted by the child’s parent or legal guardian. The grand prize for Round Two of #MyWinningMoment is a four-day, three-night, all-expense-paid trip for two people to attend the 2016 San Diego Triathlon Challenge (SDTC) in Southern California. Hosted by the Challenged Athletes Foundation and located in beautiful La Jolla, the multi-day event includes the Celebration of Abilities Awards, a half-day Össur Mobility Clinic presented by CAF, and then SDTC itself, one of the most popular and inspiring triathlon events in the U.S.
All entries will be judged based on story, originality, proper use of prosthetic, composition, and subject. To qualify, contestants must be adults or children with lower limb loss, and able to travel to SDTC in October 2016. There is no cost for submissions, although individuals are asked to limit their submissions to a maximum of five entries per person. Individuals who submitted entries for the original contest are asked to resubmit their images and video for consideration in Round Two.
Round Two of the #MyWinningMoment contest is open now through August 31, 2016, and the winner will be announced in mid-September. Entries are being continually refreshed on the #MyWinningMoment website, and the company also is showcasing contest submissions via its social media channels, @OssurCorp on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
